Hello ! Welcome to my new TAMIL ELECTRONIC LIBRARY website, a comprehensive community portal for sharing information on Tamil Diaspora.
I am moving the contents of the earlier version hosted at Geocities.com to this new portal site. You will notice that revision is quite substantial. In addition to a big change in the presentation, contents of 200+ webpages are being updated. Many new features (see below for details) are being added. Please bear with us till this reconstruction work is complete. A brief indication is given below on the key sections (Modules) of this new Portal site. Whenever inside any module, you can use the Module icons listed in the horizontal menu bar and in the Portal Menu section on the right box to go to other sections. Some of the modules require registration to view contents or to post your contributions.
Portal Home:
You are currently at the Home Page that displays all community features available to you. You can get into different modules from here and also using horizontal menu bar while visiting a module. This is called a "Portal".
Articles
Articles are collection of information sheets on various topics of interest to Tamil Diaspora. Some of them are written by me but I have also reproduced articles of others with due credit ackowledgement to the source. Contributions by visitors are also welcome. We need many more, so if you can write one send it in.
News
News will be added periodically. This will be mainly to do with any announcements we want to make such as new features, current issues etc.
Downloads
This area is where we will host basic Tamil fonts and and other softwares (freewares and sharewares) that you need to be able to handle Tamil on computers natively in Tamil script form. Download is Free of Charge, but requires registeration.
Forum
This is our message boards. This is where all the action is! By registering as a member, you will be able to access extra areas, such as the Download Area etc. Its free to register so why not have a look.
Glossary
This section contains a glossary (English-Tamil) of terms commonly used in the area of Tamil Computing
Image Gallery
This section will attempt to provide collection of photographs on various items covered in this portal (temples, dance, drama, folklore, language script forms, their evolution, cave inscriptions etc). You are most welcome to contribute to this section. Can upload photos after registration.

This section provides a section of well known Tamil Proverbs
Blog
This is sort of daily journal feature. It will also give out a unique link to your blog that you can give out to friends. Your blog will get listed on the blog page too, so all our members can see who's got one and visit them as they choose
Websites
This section (most popular section!) provides a comprehensive listing of websites on various topics of interest to Tamil Diaspora. Revised version of websites potpurri section of our former website at Geocities). Visitors themselves (after registration) can add new websites to the collection or provide updates on the sites listed herein.
