TAMIL MUSIC COLLEGE now proposes to open its doors to foreign students also in the branches of Music and Dance.
MUSIC ---------- Vocal and Instruments (VEENA,MIRUDANGAM,VIOLIN,NAGASWARAM,THAVUL)
DANCE ---------- Bharata Natyam.
TAMIL LITERATURE : Besides this,extra classes will be conducted to teach Tamil Literature, history and culture with the aim of helping the foreign students to understand the heritage of Tamil Culture.
Tamil Music college was first started in 1932 by Rajah Sir Annamalai Chettiyar in Chidambaram. Great music stalwarts like:

Dr. Rajah Sir. Annamalai Chettiar also founded Tamil Isai Sangam at Madras in the year 1943 with the kind cooperation and support of Dr.R.K.Shanmugam Chettiar (the First Finance Minister of Free India)--- C.Rajagopalachari--- (Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu), T.K.Chidambaranatha Mudaliar, Kalki and a hoast of well wishers and patrons.
The only motto of the Sangam is to foster Tamil music and its allied arts.
The Sangam set unto itself to achieve this lofty goal through the activities mentioned below:
TAMIL MUSIC COLLEGE (EVENING)
In order to promote Tamil musical compositions, Tamil Isai Sangam started an Evening Music College in Chennai in the year 1944,in which Thevaram and other Tamil compositions besides Violin,Veena and Mirudangam were taught.
Keezhveloor Meenakshisundaram Pillai and Thanjavur K.P.Kittapa had the distinction of serving this college as instructors when founded.
TAMIL MUSIC COLLEGE ( FULL TIME )
Dr.A.C. Muttiah a well-known Industrialist of world repute, the grandson of the founder Rajah.Sir.Annamalai Chettiar rightly felt the need of upgrading the Music College into a full - time college. A full - time college in the present form was thus born in the year 1995 and Dr.A.C.Muthiah has endowed large sums to the college . He guides the college as the Honorary Secretary being ably assisted by a board of Trustees consisting of eminent personalities like Justice P.R.Gokulakrishnan, as the president.
Tamil Nadu Government has approved this college, and the syallabus. Examinations are carried out as per their Directions. Diplomas in various branches are awarded accordingly.
The Music College has its own prestigious building in the heart of the city with ample space for all its activities. It has an imposing air-conditioned huge auditorium with all sophisticated equipments for the music and dance-drama programmes.
A fully equiped library with rare books and magazines related to music besides a museum of rare musical instruments are the special features of this institution. Portraits (Painting in canvas) of music stalwarts of the past is an added attraction of this instituition.
Monthly festivals to commemorate famous Tamil music composers are held with great benefit to students.
The Sangam conducts annual Music Festival for about 12-13 days during December and senior musicians besides aspiring youngsters are offered chances to give concerts. On the inaugural day a famous exponent of Tamil music and culture is called upon to preside over the period of the festival and he is conferred the much- sought- after title "Isai Peraringar". In 1993 the Golden Jubilee of both Tamil Isai Sangam and that of Tamil Music Festival was celebrated with great interest and enthusiam.
